Ballet

Ballet students at Pulse experience a nurturing and inspiring environment. The classes are thoughtfully designed to cater to all skill levels, from beginners to advanced dancers. With a focus on developing strength, flexibility, and poise, students learn the classical techniques that form the foundation of ballet following the ADA syllabus, which has decades of expertise as the longest running dance organisation in the Southern Hemisphere. 

Jazz

Pulse takes pride in fostering a supportive environment where dancers of all levels can immerse themselves in the rich and diverse world of jazz dance. ADA Jazz syllabus touches on the infectious beats of classic jazz and musical theatre to contemporary styles, while teachers are always adding their own personally created choreography to help students at Pulse learn the fundamentals of technique, coordination, and improvisation. The classes not only focus on mastering steps but also encourage creativity and self-confidence, allowing dancers to develop a unique flair in their performance.

Tap

Pulse's tap curriculum seamlessly blends traditional techniques with contemporary styles, ensuring a comprehensive learning experience.

ADA exam students learn techniques and amalgamations of everything from vaudeville to street tap. While teachers are constantly undertaking professional development to learn more to bring back to our studios. Students are encouraged to explore the nuances of timing, musicality, and intricate foot patterns, fostering a deep appreciation for the art form. With a focus on precision and creativity, tap classes provide a platform for dancers to express themselves through a vibrant and expressive language.

AcroDance

Pulse places a strong emphasis on safety, ensuring that students develop the strength, flexibility, and coordination required for acrobatic movement. From elegant tumbling sequences, impressive balance sequences, displays of contortion to fluid dance transitions, acrodance classes at Pulse provide a comprehensive curriculum that enhances both physical and artistic abilities. ADA AcroDance classes offer a harmonious blend of athleticism and artistry, creating a space where performers can achieve impressive feats while expressing themselves through the beauty of dance.

Hip-Hop

Pulse's hip-hop classes encompasses a range of styles, from classic street dance to the latest trends, ensuring a diverse and dynamic learning experience. Emphasizing the importance of individual expression and personal style, the classes encourage students to bring their unique flair to each routine or combination. We provide a supportive and inclusive environment where dancers can immerse themselves in the beats of hip-hop and jazz funk, mastering intricate footwork, body isolations, and freestyle elements.

Contemporary

Pulse embraces the ever-evolving nature of contemporary dance, incorporating a range of styles, from lyrical to modern, to provide a comprehensive and dynamic learning experience. Students are encouraged to express their emotions through movement, master intricate floor work, and explore the unique fusion of classical and modern techniques. ADA contemporary syllabus is an excellent introduction to this ever changing style of dance. Our contemporary classes cultivate a space for self-discovery, allowing dancers to push artistic boundaries while honing their technical skills.

Musical Theatre

Pulse's musical theatre curriculum covers a diverse range of styles, from classic Broadway to contemporary hits, ensuring a well-rounded education in the genre. Students are guided through vocal training, choreography, and acting techniques, fostering a holistic approach to musical theatre performance. The classes not only focus on skill development but also encourage creativity, self-expression, and the joy of storytelling through song and dance.

Little Gems

Ada's Little Gems is an imaginative program aiming to build confidence and introduce children to the world of dance.

 

Designed for children from 2 years of age, Ada’s Little Gems incorporates elements from Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, AcroDance, Mime and Movement into one program which helps to bring their creativity to life. Inspirational and flexible in its delivery, this is the perfect program to help spark ingenuity and excitement in young dancers.

Exams and Eisteddfods

All students enrolled in ADA syllabus classes such as Ballet, Jazz, Tap and AcroDance are afforded the opportunity to sit exams with Pulse and private lessons with our dance principal are available to assist in exam preparation. Students can elect to be in a soloist, duo or group act to compete at local eisteddfods in the region throughout the year.

Pre-Pointe Assessments

We care deeply about our students health and safety not just during classes but extending to their future longevity. Starting pointe work is a true testament to the dancers' strength, technique and commitment. It's an achievement that opens up a whole new world of possibilities, grace and artistry. We are privileged to be partnering with local business Construct Health Physiotherapy to conduct pre-pointe assessments for all of our aspiring ballet students. Construct Health has been a key supporter of Pulse for a number of years especially in providing our dancers with affordable, functional pre-pointe assessments.
